Using YouTube clips in classes

Welcome to my new blog!

I hope to use this site to record some of my reflections on teaching and learning, and provide some food for thought for other teachers around the world who are keen to reflect on and improve their practice.

I find in my own very busy working day little time to reflect deeply on my work, usually jumping quickly from one project or task to another without having enough time to view the bigger picture. Having read lots of blogposts by LOTS of people on a number of other topics, I have come to the realisation that blogging can be used to encourage reflectiveness and perspective. I hope that I will be disciplined enough to make regular entries, as a record of my own development and as a resource for others.

One of my aims for this year is to increase my use of ICT in classes, believing that it will improve student motivation and engagement. For this to work, I have had to work very determinedly at improving my own ICT skills - writing this blog is part of that journey!

I recently came across a site called SnipSnip which allows you to embed just a section of a YouTube clip into a blog or website. Using it appears pretty easy - but I need to figure out how to embed the link it creates into my blog. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, take the time to look at this blog, written by Jenny Luca. It's awesome and always gives me lots to think about. It inspired me to start this blog & it's where I heard about SnipSnip. I'm sure you'll find lots of useful ideas and resources there, too.

Later in the day....I had another go at using SnipSnip & have figured it out. The link below is useless but does prove that I made it work. More details to follow another day....

Bye for now,
